For this assignment we had to get into groups or a pair and come with an idea wether it be live or a pre recorded item such as a game show or music video. Individually we all came with ideas and then had to pitch them to the clients. I first watched some sports relief pre recorded items to get an idea of what I would like mine to be like I also did some audience research so I could know who my target audience would be. My intial idea was going to be a pre recorded item which would be a game show called Drink & Answer where both staff and students would be participating, they would have 4 people on both teams and be given a question to answer on general questions and whoever would drink the fastest depending on what time they had to drink it would answer the question and receive a point. I wanted to included both staff and students so they can interact outside of the classroom and in a fun activity.
I then pitched my ideas to the clients which was being recorded, I told them about the synopsis, content, the shooting style, my target audience and how I will try and maintain audience attraction.
The clients then gave me feedback on what I could improve and what they liked. The positive was
that they liked my idea and how it involved the
students and staff members however the negative part was that I should think about safety how quickly they would have to drink and someone may get hurt in the process.
We then had to settle on one idea within in my pair with my partner and we chose her idea which would still be a pre recorded item but a music video. The music video was going to be based on uplifiting and spreading a postive message as to why we do sports relief in the first place which is to raise money for a charity and make a change in someones life. We used one person in the music video which was my partner as she would be rapping and we also chose the song by Dappy - No regrets which has a postive message aswell, me and my partner both came up with the rap verse together we made sure to keep it simple so people would understand the message and we mention sports relief in the song to remind the viewer what the cause was all about. We then chose the location we would shoot our music video and we wanted a nice scenery to go with the postitve message so we chose to film outside aswell as inside.
During the process we only had a small amout to get everything done, but eventually we were able to edit on time for the Sports Relief telethon. During the rehearsal the day before me and my partner realised that the music wasn't gping in time with the music video but when we watched it back on final cut pro it was fine so we tried to sort out the probably this caused us to panic a little that it wouldn't be done on time for the next day.
On the day of the telethon I was given the role of photographer where I had to take pictures from upstairs so we could gets shots of the full show, which I enjoyed doing. However me and my partner thought we had fixed our video and we were given some reassurance by one of the helpers who was incharge of putting the videos up that it was fine but unfortunately it still did the same thing it did in rehearsals but not all the way through just as the end but people who had seen our video prior to that said they enjoyed our music video and like the positive message that we were trying to put across.
Overall I think it went well, although our video still messed up a bit, im still happy with the finishing product and we what wanted to achieve was conveyed through the video. Next time around I think we should manage our time more to give us space to sort out mistakes and not rush.
