Rhule Of Thirds
When taking a photograph for the rule of thirds usually this square grid comes up showing you where the person should stand when taking the picture to achieve it. As you can see with the two pictures below there are four crosses placed on the horiztonal and vertical lines and that should be where the subject should be placed. Placing points of interest usually a subjects eyes in the intersections or along the lines means your photo is most likely to become more balanced.
